The Hurricane during the night of 16th October and the early hours of 17th October 1987 wrecked havoc across the country.

This was the scene in Upton Avenue where many trees were uprooted and buildings, outhouses and fences destroyed or damaged. It is likely that many SFHS members would have woken up to similar sights in their own roads and gardens.
